Community College Food vs University Food

I have sooooooooooooooooooooo much to say about this! I have recently got my associates at a community college and I am now working on my bachelors at a university. You wouldn’t believe how different the food is. The school I went to had on campus housing so I had a meal plan as do I here at the university now. The meal plans at a community college are cheaper of course but the food is not that good. The universities on the other hand has great food choices. Im gonna compare the food so you can understand why it was so frustrating for me. (lol)

Community College Food- You only get to eat for 5 day out of the week because no one is on campus on the weekend. They served lunch on Saturday and dinner on Sunday. The food was not good on the weekend and was really limited because it was left overs. The students had to serve on the weekends. Plus everything tasted like last week food. The best thing was the breakfast food that I ate throughout the week. You guys, I am not lying when I say that I did not eat dinner for the whole 2 years there. I just bought my food on the weekends and kept things in my dorm since I had a single room.

No vegetarian options. They were horrible with different types of food for people. It was so bad. I tried to become a vegetarian while I was there but it was impossible. I couldn’t but much from the store because I was already struggling by myself.

Lunch was weird. I swear the lunch reminded me of middle school food sometimes. Most times. They didn’t want us to notice that they were mixing different stuff together to make new stuff but I new. My favorite thing was the deli because I would get a hoagie or a quesadilla. I had a chicken and cheese or chicken and bacon quesadilla everyday. Which is not so healthy. I had to eat.

Breakfast was better. Not the eggs. The eggs were the worst because they were powder eggs. They just tasted like plastic plus they were watery. I couldn’t eat them so I always asked to get my eggs sunny side up and flipped. The biscuits that they served literally everyday were so hard. They were definitely old because they were so hard. The only other place you can buy food were at the small food station in one of the buildings. They sold the same things you can get in the cafeteria area for $4 or more. Seriously! They also don’t stay open for so long. You literally had 1 hour for dinner.

University Food- I had finally found great food with great options for everyone. I love everything, especially the big salad bar. The meal plans are definitely more expensive but it’s worth it. I have a 7 day meal plan so I don’t have to buy food on the weekend. They also give us school bucks that you can use to get things like, chic fi-la, Sushi, Starbucks and many other restaurants. The cafe where everyone eats is amazing.

Breakfast is awesome. They have so much to eat for breakfast. Deserts, bacon, sausage (I dont eat meat anymore), real scramble eggs, french toast, pancakes, grits, fruits, different types of bagels, omelette stations, cereal bars and more. I make sure I eat a healthy breakfast everyday. That is why I was mad that I missed breakfast this morning.

Lunch is probably the best. They have so much food, it hurts. There is a huge salad bar with so many toppings and rolls. There is a soup station with different types of hummus and more. There are many types of food from other countries as well. Dinner was pretty much the same as lunch. I love campus food now.

Weekend food is also good. On the weekend they serve a big brunch and dinner. They have lots of breakfast food and lunch. If you get a to go plate you can get extra. They always have the salad bar open which I love.

There are huge differences and it’s crazy. I think community college should have good food because you are still paying thousands of dollars to be there. To sum it up, University food is way better.

Hi! Welcome to my blog. I am a college student and I am curious about everything. When I get curious, I need to talk about it. Life is amazing and weird at the same time. This is why we must stay positive so that we can enjoy life before it ends.
